There are several colours associated with the month of May but the best known since antiquity is the deep, cool, green colour of the emerald gem.
Emerald green is highly symbolic in many cultures all over the world. It signifies the refreshment and regeneration of nature and our minds - representing abundance, prosperity, security and growth.
Since ancient times, colours and gem stones have been attributed to the months of the year.
