How colours are made
We are surrounded by colours. But did you know that colours actually don’t exist without light? Colour can be visible to us only under one condition: the surface has to reflect the light or a portion of it. Colours are created by surfaces reflecting some wavelengths while absorbing other wavelengths of light. We see colour because these wavelengths, reflected off various surfaces arrive into our eyes and paint the world in colour for us.
For example, the wings of the most vividly colourful butterfly are covered with multi-faceted, semi transparent tiny scales that overlap like roof shingles. These surfaces create colours by reflecting or absorbing particular frequencies of light waves.

How white colour is made
So how is the white colour made? White colour is made when a surface reflects all wave lengths of light visible to us. All the colours of rainbow add up to white light and white is the colour of light that surrounds us.
White light, symbols and diamonds
White light and therefore white colour are considered to be symbols of unity, clarity, peace, faith and ultimately: symbiosis and perfection. And a diamond is considered to be a perfect precious gem because it can both reflect light and refract it into the rainbow. It almost emanates pure light. It is also the hardest material on Earth and scores a perfect 10 on the scale of hardness.

Lots of white blooming bushes and trees blossom in April all over the world, bringing a fresh breath of air and the promise of new beginnings. Maybe that’s why white is the colour of April in so many cultures of the world.
Diamonds are also attributed to the month of April and are associated with the start of a new journey in life through marriage. This predominantly clear, precious stone reflects and refracts the full spectrum of white light like no other gem, and if you were born in April, the diamond is also your birthstone.
